What it do, Bonnarooooooooooo! Oh sweet, sweaty Bonnaroo where should I even begin?! This experience was one of the most random blessings to fall into my hands. Every year I think about attending Bonnaroo, but this year I was really feeling the universe (yes, the universe) was creating a way for me to get to Manchester, TN. And lo and behold my darling little bro (Hey Taylor!) called me THREE days before and said he had an extra (free) ticket for me to attend through a local vendor! So of course I said yes! When I arrived at Bonnaroo I instantly knew I was at “The happiest place on earth” it was soooo beautiful! The people and the scene were all so vibrant! For four days that 700-acre farm became home to the most eclectic group of people. From 4 year old toddlers shaking in their little red wagons to the awesome body painted hula hoopers to the 60 year old former hippies reliving their youth. Bonnaroo's events cater to people of all ages, it is so much more than a music festival.
Each day began with the sun blazing through our tent around 7 am & every morning I crawled out of it to catch a few more Z’s in one of the chairs outside of the tent. Soooo there were porta potties and porta showers – but I won’t scare you all with the details. Overall the tent life was surprisingly doable.
I met some wonderful people, saw some outstanding shows, and ate some scrumptious treats. There was a cute little shopping area near the rainbow colored mushroom fountain where they sold everything from handmade jewelry to hammocks. What made the experience totally worth it was the energy between the crowd and the artist during the shows. Believe me you haven't seen energy until you see a crowd of 300 plus react to the DJ spinning Drake’s “Know Yourself” – I was running through the 6 with my woes! - Being so close to fellow Rooers who shared the same love for music and just being free was so refreshing. I met individuals from all over the U.S as far as Pennsylvania, New Orleans, and California all on the farm for one simple reason - to enjoy life.
After waiting in line for three longgggg hours to be up close during Kendrick’s show, he easily topped the list of my top shows for the weekend. As expected he killed it. I met plenty of new friends and listened to a random freestyle while waiting for SZA, danced my heart out during the 90s SuperJam, and sang every word during Mumford & Sons. I am so thankful I got to see so many amazing artists including Earth Wind & Fire, Alabama Shakes, Dej Loaf, Tove Lo, Odesza, DeadMau5, SBTRKT and many more. I want to pick a favorite, but I just can notttttt! I loved them all!.
The scorching long days. Dancing from night until morning. The long walks back to camp. Bonnaroo was everything and more. The experience is one I will cherish forever. I left Bonnaroo extremely sun kissed and dusty, but I can’t wait to visit the farm again. So heres to future Bonnaroo weekends filled with friendships, laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime.
See you next year <3
